Defenseman Frankie Simonelli Recalled to Providence

North Charleston, S.C. - South Carolina Stingrays defenseman Frankie Simonelli has been recalled to the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League (AHL).

In 19 games with the Stingrays this season, Simonelli, 22, earned one goal and nine assists for 10 points and a plus-minus rating of +11. The Bensenville, Illinois, native added six points (two goals, four assists) in 27 games with the Bruins. Currently in his first professional season, Simonelli attended the University of Wisconsin for four seasons netting 61 points (16 goals, 45 assists) in 155 games.

The Stingrays look to tie the ECHL record for the longest winning streak of 17 games on Friday, March 13 against the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:35 p.m. at The Arena at Gwinnett Center.

The Stingrays honor the men and women of the Armed Forces on Military Appreciation Night presented by APECS Aerospace Corporation, Precision Airparts Support Services, United Aeronautical Corporation, U.S. Technical and Heritage Pools on Saturday, March 14 at 7:05 p.m. at the Coliseum. WCW and WWE Champion Ric Flair will fire up the crowd as the Stingrays skate in special "Stars and Stripes" jerseys and auction them off after the contest.

On Sunday, March 15, the Stingrays host their first ever Undie Sunday benefiting the Carolina Youth Development Center against the Gladiators at 3:05 at the Coliseum. Bring new, packaged diapers, men's, women's and kid's underwear along with socks and other undergarments to throw on the ice after the Stingrays score their first goal of the game, similar to Teddy Bear Toss.

Sunday is also Mascot Mania and Crews Subaru Family Day featuring $5 kids tickets and $5 kids meals! Meet all of your favorite mascots from around the Lowcountry! Bring your ice skates for the Health First Postgame Skate with the Stingrays.
