Thunder Bolster Blueline with Busillo

March 11, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Stockton Thunder News Release

Stockton, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's New York Islanders and the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, announce the signing of former UMass (Amherst) defenseman Mike Busillo to a contract leading tonight's game against Ontario.

Busillo, 23, just completed his senior season in the NCAA where he has played with the Minutemen for four years. During that time, Busillo played in 75 games scoring 7 points (1 goal, 6 assists).

In 2014-15, Busillo put up a career high in blocked shots (35) and managed to score his first ever goal at the collegiate level on 10/31 at Maine. The 6'2", 203 lb. defender brings a physical presence and a defensive mindset to a Thunder blueline that has been decimated by injuries and call ups throughout the season.

Busillo is also a former teammate of current Thunder players Adam Phillips and Mike Pereira. He's the fourth player from UMass (Amherst) to wear a Thunder sweater this season as Colin Shea also suited up for the Thunder this season.

The Thunder return home for the final three games of the year against the Idaho Steelheads on March 13, 14 and 15. For tickets call (209) 373-1500 or visit StocktonThunder.com.
