Defenseman FitzGerald Reassigned to ECHL Alaska

Peoria, IL (January 9, 2007) - Peoria Rivermen General Manager of Hockey Operations Kevin McDonald announced today that defenseman Zack FitzGerald has been reassigned to the team's ECHL affiliate, the Alaska Aces - 2006 Kelly Cup Champions, by the NHL's St. Louis Blues.

FitzGerald, 21, has skated in 11 games for the Rivermen season with one assist and 40 penalty minutes (PIM). The 6-foot-1, 214-pound native of Two Harbors, Minnesota, has spent much of the last two months injured or has not dressed for Peoria. Last season, much of which was also missed due to injury, he skated in 13 games for the Rivermen with two points (1g, 1a) with 47 PIM, while competing in 12 games for the Aces with two points (1g, 1a) and 108 PIM.

On Friday, January 12, the Rivermen face off against the Toronto Marlies at 7:30 p.m. It is a Coca-Cola/Insight Date Night. Fans receive two (2) tickets, two (2) Cokes and a tub of popcorn for just $25. It is also Par-A-Dice Hotel-Casino Night, and the first 1,500 fans (21 & over) receive a deck of playing cards. The team will also wear jerseys commemorating the franchise's 2000 ECHL Kelly Cup Championship that will be auctioned off after the game. And U.S. Cellular's 25 Greatest Rivermen of All-Time continues with Curtis Sanford cards to the first 2,500 fans. On Saturday, January 13, Peoria hosts the Milwaukee Admirals at 7:00 p.m. It is OSF-St. Francis Medical Center/Children's Hospital of Illinois T-Shirt Night for the first 2,000 fans. And Kaufman Wellness Center will be on hand for free spinal checks and back massages.
