Three Bears named to RBK Hockey AHL All-Star Classic

HERSHEY - The 2006 Calder Cup Champion HERSHEY BEARS announced today in conjunction with the American Hockey League that three HERSHEY skaters have been named to the RBK Hockey AHL All-Star Classic in Toronto January 28-29 at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto. The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.
Giroux ranks third in the league in goals with 27, and stands just nine goals away from tying his career-high in lamp-lighters. He has skated in two games this season for the Washington Capitals, and made his NHL debut last season with the New York Rangers.
Nycholat leads all AHL defenseman in assists with 25 entering play this week, despite being called up to the Washington Capitals since December 23 He scored his first NHL goal December 29 against Martin Brodeur of the New Jersey Devils, and has two goals and six points in eight games since his recall.
Fleischmann, HERSHEY'S leading scorer during the 2006 Calder Cup playoffs with 11 goals and 32 points in 20 games, is third on the team in scoring with 13 goals and 35 points in just 27 games played for the BEARS this season. He has also played eight games for Washington this season, recording one assist.
The Canadian AHL All-Star team will be coached by Bruce Boudreau and Bob Woods; by virtue of HERSHEY'S 2006 Calder Cup championship. The coaches for the Planet USA AHL All-Stars will be determined by which team has the best winning percentage after this weekend's games.
The BEARS conclude a five-game road trip this Friday and Saturday before returning home to face the Albany River Rats Sunday afternoon at 5:00 p.m Tickets are available at the GIANT Center box office, or by calling (717) 508-BEAR.
