PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Phantoms and the American Hockey League announced today that defenseman Nolan Baumgartner has been selected to represent the Phantoms at the 2007 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic. The selection is the second of Baumgartner's career, after representing the Manitoba Moose in 2005.

Baumgartner, 30, has four goals and nine assists for 13 points in 30 games for the Phantoms this year, while posting a +1 rating. The Calgary native signed with the Flyers organization as a free agent on July 1, 2006 and joined the Phantoms on October 24.

Baumgartner played his 700th professional game earlier this year while with the Flyers. He has played 124 NHL games with the Flyers, Washington, Vancouver and Chicago. Baumgartner becomes the 25th player to represent the Phantoms on the AHL All-Star team in the club's 11-year history, and is the 10th Phantoms defenseman to receive the honor.

The 2007 Rbk Hockey AHL All-Star Classic will take place at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto, home of the AHL's Marlies. The event features the 2007 CCM AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Sunday, January 28 (7:00 ET) and the 2007 AHL All-Star Game on Monday, January 29 (7:00 ET).

The Canadian team comprises players born in Canada, while the PlanetUSA team is made of players born outside of Canada. AHL fans determined the starting lineups via on-line balloting at theahl.com, while a committee of AHL coaches selected the remainder of the rosters.

The Phantoms begin a four-game road swing Wednesday night when they visit the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:30 PM. Philadelphia's next home game is Friday, January 19 against Bridgeport at 7:05. It's NASCAR Night with the Phantoms, where the first 5,000 fans will receive a miniature Phantoms car courtesy of Ransome-Cat. Individual tickets for all Phantoms games, including $8 tickets for children 14 and under anywhere in the building, are on sale now at phantomshockey.com or by calling 800-298-4200.
