February 11, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Arizona Sundogs News Release
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - Skating in their first game away from Tim's Toyota Center in nearly a month after a season-long nine-game homestand, the Arizona Sundogs saw their road winless streak reach six games in a 4-2 loss to the defending Ray Miron Presidents' Cup Champion Rapid City Rush Friday night at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Arena.
Arizona last won on the road on December 11, earning a 3-2 victory over the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees in Hidalgo, Texas.
Maxime Renaud opened scoring in the contest just past the midway point of the first period to give Arizona a 1-0 lead but the Rush would respond less than a minute later with the first of four straight goals.
Renaud picked up his third of the year 12:40 into the game, one-timing a Jason Visser centering feed past Danny Battochio from the right circle.
Ryan Menei responded 53 seconds later with his first of two goals on the night, collecting a drop pass from former Sundog forward Konrad Reeder and snapping a shot high past the glove of Doug Groenestege to tie the score at one.
Vladimir Hartinger gave Rapid City a 2-1 lead early in the second period with his 10th of the season, pinching from his position at the blue line and beating Groenestege five-hole from between the circles 2:41 into the middle frame.
Menei tallied his league-leading 31st goal of the year and second of the game with 2:56 to play in the second period, stretching Rapid City's lead to 3-1.
Reeder picked up his second point of the contest and 10th goal of the season at 6:14 of the third period, reaching a shot around Groenestege as the netminder slid post to post on a 2-on-1 chance to stretch Rapid City's lead to three.
Karl Sellan netted his sixth of the season 10 seconds later, closing out scoring in the contest.
Joel Irving saw his three-game goal scoring streak come to an end in the loss.
Each team finished 0-for-7 with the man advantage.
The Sundogs were held to a season-low three shots in the opening frame. Rapid City outshot Arizona, 36-20.
The two teams face off again tomorrow at 7:05pm (Arizona time). Listen to the game live online at www.cattlecountryradio.com and on KDDL 'Cattle Country' 94.3FM, the Official Radio Home of Arizona Sundogs Hockey.
