Allen Americans News Release

ALLEN, Texas- The Allen Americans defeated the Odessa Jackalopes Friday night 3-2 in front of 3,694 at the Allen Event Center. The game was the first night of Americans Fight Cancer Weekend, with fans wearing purple in support of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. The first 1,000 fans in attendance also received yellow bracelets courtesy of the Livestrong Foundation.

The Americans got on the board first with just over two minutes remaining in the period, when Bruce Graham notched his 23rd of the season, with Erik Adams and Colton Yellow Horn providing the assists. Adams' shot deflected off of Odessa goaltender David McKee's pad and right onto the blade of Graham, who slammed the puck into the gaping net. The first period would end with Allen taking a 1-0 lead to the locker room, alongside a 14-9 shot advantage.

Odessa evened the score in the second period when Mike Ramsay scored a power play goal at 6:27, on a second chance opportunity created by a Kenny Corupe shot. Mark Ehl gave the ‘Jacks a 2-1 advantage when he lit the lamp from the slot, shorthanded at 11:37.

Americans Head Coach Dwight Mullins was ejected at the beginning of the final frame, forcing Associate Head Coach Bill McDonald into the role of bench boss. Perhaps the ejection sparked some emotion in the Americans, as the third period was all Allen, beginning with a Brian McMillin shot which was tipped home by Colton Yellow Horn at 3:35 to tie the game up at 2. Nino Musitelli followed less than a minute later with a goal of his own from a Judd Blackwater feed. Musitelli grabbed the puck in front of the net, worked it to his forehand, and beat McKee under the pads to put Allen up 3-2.

Goaltender Scott Campbell stopped 31 of 33 Odessa shots to grab the win for the Americans.

Allen returns to action Saturday night against the Jackalopes, with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 PM at the Allen Event Center. The Americans will be wearing special white helmets, which will be auctioned off after the contest, with proceeds going to the Relay For Life Allen.

During the first intermission of Saturday night's contest, Trevor Daley of the Dallas Stars will be on hand to sign autographs for Americans fans. The first 1,000 kids in attendance will receive a free mini stick, compliments of Uncle Bob's Self Storage. The Americans organization will also donate $2.00 of every single game ticket sold to the foundation.
