Colorado Eagles News Release

WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles announced today that they have signed European forward Andrej Hebar (pronounced: Andre Hey-Bar). The 26-year old comes to Colorado after playing the past eight and a half seasons overseas; this will be his first time playing in America.

A native of Slovenia, Hebar was an amateur standout, helping his country achieve gold and silver medals in the 2001 & 2002 U18 World Junior Championship tournaments (D2 & D1 respectively). After a productive career in the U-18 & U-20 leagues of Slovenia and the Czech Republic, Hebar began accumulating professional games (by Central Hockey League standards) during the 2002-03 season.

From 2002-03 thru 2006-07, the 5-foot-10-inch, 170-pound forward played parts of four seasons in the Czech Republic's highest league (excluding the 2005-06 season). Since then, Hebar has played most of the past three and a half seasons in Austria. In 358 total games overseas (only 50 recognized by the CHL as pro), he has registered 175 points (89-86-175) and 527 penalty minutes.

"We believe Andrej will add some more scoring punch and speed to our lineup," said Head Coach & General Manager, Chris Stewart. "How his game translates to North American hockey will be the key, but his skill set is right up there with the best in the CHL."

The Eagles begin a three-game weekend set against the Missouri Mavericks tonight, with Saturday and Sunday's games taking place in Loveland, Colo. Individual tickets for all Eagles home games can be purchased by visiting the Budweiser Events Center box office, calling 1-877-544-TIXX (8499) or online at www.ComcastTix.com. Special group rates are also available by calling the Eagles' office at 970-686-SHOT (7468).
