Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies News Release

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – The Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the New York Islanders, have announced the acquisitions of goaltender Trevor Koenig and forward Colin Shields from San Diego, and defenseman Tom Reimann from Florida in two separate deals. Koenig and Shields will join the Bullies in time for their game tonight at Johnstown.

The Bullies acquired Koenig and Shields from San Diego through Dayton in exchange for center Brett Nowak and forward Rob McFeeters. Koenig, 30, is San Diego's all-time leader in goals against average, save percentage, and shutouts. A seven-year professional and former West Coast Hockey League Goaltender of the Year, Koenig helped lead the Gulls to the Taylor Cup Championship in 2001 and 2003. The Edmonton, Alberta native is 10-6-2 this season in 18 starts with a 2.79 goals against average and a .904% save percentage.

"If we're serious about winning a championship, then we need two #1 goaltenders, and we were able to accomplish that today by acquiring Trevor Koenig," said Bullies Head Coach Matt Thomas. "He's won two championships already in San Diego and his resume speaks for itself."

Shields, 25, is re-united with Thomas who was an assistant coach at the University of Maine during the rookie's freshman and sophomore season. The Glasgow, Scotland native was a second-team All-American and second-team Hockey East All-Star in 2003-04 after pacing the Black Bears with 18 goals and 44 points and leading them to within one victory of the NCAA Championship. Shields has three goals and 14 points in 33 games this season. He is a former sixth round draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers from the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

"Colin was one of the premier goal scorers in college hockey in each of the past three seasons," said Thomas. "He will also bring an element of speed on the right side and will be an exciting player for our fans to watch."

Reimann, 26, comes to Atlantic City from Florida in exchange for goaltender Tyler MacKay and the rights to center Jim Henkel. The Blaine, MN native also played his collegiate hockey at the University of Maine under Thomas. A second-year professional, Reimann was a 2004 ECHL All-Star after tallying 11 goals and 33 points in 44 games with the Greensboro Generals last year. Reimann has one goal and seven points through 32 games this season.

"Tom brings with him an element of versatility, someone who can play both forward and defense," said Thomas. "He's a highly skilled player that will give us additional depth on the back-end and be another contributor on the power play."
