Bakersfield Condors News Release
Anchorage, Alaska - Ryan Moren's goal at 1:32 of overtime lifted the Alaska Aces to a 3-2 victory over the Bakersfield Condors at the Sullivan Arena on Thursday night.
Both teams had their chances during the scoreless first period. The Condors appeared to get the first goal of the night when Brett Lutes' shot trickled through Aces goalie Lance Mayes and toward the goal line. The light came on but after a brief conference it was waved off and it remained 0-0.
Paul Rosebush snapped the scoreless tie with his 10th of the season at 12:03, lifting a backhand over the glove of Mayes. He became the seventh Condor to hit double digits in goals on the season. However, on the next shift the Aces went on the power play and eventually tied the game. A wrist shot from Charles Linglet was kicked out by G Yutaka Fukufuji but the rebound was kicked in by Rosebush to make it 1-1.
Lars-Peder Nagel put Bakersfield in front again during the third period, punching home his 16th of the season in a goalmouth scramble. But once again, it was Alaska bouncing back strong and tying the game up. Just 31 seconds later Mike Jones banged in the equalizer, forcing overtime. Just 1:32 into the extra session, Moren cut across the top of the crease and tucked home the game winner to keep the Condors winless in their last three games.
The Condors finish the three-game series with the Aces on Saturday afternoon at 3:05 p.m. (PST) to wrap up their only trek to "The Last Frontier" this season. They return home to host the Fresno Falcons on Friday, February 11th at 7:00 p.m. After that game, fans will be treated to a live concert from international recording artists Hawk Nelson, presented by KKEY-TV 11 and Island Style. Hawk Nelson will perform inside Centennial Garden, free to everyone in attendance at the game.
Individual tickets can be purchased at the Centennial Garden box office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday, by calling Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at ticketmaster.com or stopping by any Ticketmaster location. Season and group tickets may be purchased by calling 324-PUCK (7825) or by visiting the Condors office next to Centennial Garden.
