Augusta Lynx News Release
Reggie Berg's two goal, one assist performance included the game winning goal as the Florida Everblades beat the Augusta Lynx 3-1 Friday night in front of 3,079 fans.
Florida would jump ahead of the Lynx with a pair of goals in the first period, starting with Damian Surma's power play marker at 6:55 of the first period. Surma jammed the puck in at the side of the Lynx net with help from Brad Church and Reggie Berg to make it a 1-0 game. Berg would follow with a goal of his own after nabbing the puck near the point and ripping a hard shot over the shoulder of Jason Saal for a 2-0 Everblades lead. Church picked up the lone assist on the goal at 15:07.
Jamie Johnson jumped the Lynx back into the game at 2:17 of the second period when his slap shot from the right wing beat Tyler MacKay over the left shoulder from Ken Magowan and Dan Sullivan to inch the Lynx within a goal after 40 minutes of play.
Despite pressing as hard as possible in the third period, including two power play advantages, Augusta could not beat MacKay and the Everblades again. An empty net goal from Berg sealed a 3-1 win for Florida, with MacKay finishing with 28 saves. Saal took the loss with 23 stops in net for the Lynx.
The same two teams battle tomorrow night at 7:35 pm at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center, with pre-game show starting at 7:05 pm on NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630. Tickets are on sale now for all remaining Lynx home games through the team office at (706) 724-4ICE, through all TicketMaster locations, and on line at www.TicketMaster.com.
