David Versus Goliath In Hockey Battle Uptown

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The entire Charlotte Checkers hockey team will step onto the ice and play members of the Checkers Metro House League mite team.
The Checkers Metro House League out of the Extreme Ice Center in Indian Trail will ice 26 mites ages six thru eight in a game against the entire Checkers professional hockey team. The battle for the ages will take place at the WBT Holiday on Ice Rink at the Green Uptown this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information on the Ice Rink visit www.wbtholidayonice.com. As part of the festivities, the first 100 fans that attend will receive a free WBT puck. Checkers beloved mascot, Chubby will be in attendance as well as morning television personality and Checkers game day host Wilson who will be calling all the action.
The Checkers are getting ready for their 16th season of play as a member of the ECHL. The next home game will take place on Dec. 17 against the Elmira Jackals at 7:00 p.m. In the team's 15-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 11 times including four consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers are entering their fourth season of play at Time Warner Cable Arena. Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting at just $396.
