Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release

BILOXI, MS - Riku Helenius made 39 through regulation and overtime but Kevin Baker was the hero in overtime, converting on a one-timer from Peter Metcalf for the game winner at 4:30 of overtime as the Florida Everblades defeated the Mississippi Sea Wolves 2-1 in overtime on Wednesday evening.

Alex Parent got the Sea Wolves on the board when his wrist shot along the ice beat Everblades goalie David Leggio through the legs for a power-play goal at 18:30 of the first frame.

Despite eight power plays in the first two periods, the Sea Wolves were unable to extend the lead, and the Everblades forced overtime with just 3:46 remaining in the third period when Andrew Sweetland found a rebound in front of the net an hammered it through the pads of Mississippi's Riku Helenius.

With Florida's Kevin Baker open in the left circle, Metcalf put a one-time pass in Baker's wheelhouse, which he drilled into the top corner for the game-winner at 4:30 of overtime.

Riku Helenius made 39 saves to earn an OT, and the Sea Wolves were 1-for-11 on the power play.
