
Steelheads Beat Condors, 4-3

BOISE, ID- The Idaho Steelheads made it two-in-a-row tonight with a win against the Bakersfield Condors, as the Steelheads prevailed 4-3 in front of 3,017 fans at Qwest Arena; a pair of goals from Garett Bembridge lead the way for Idaho.
Most of the first period was controlled by Bakersfield, as Andrew Ianiero scored the first two goals of the game to put his team ahead 2-0. Marty Flichel put Idaho on the board at 7:25, with assists going to Darrell Hay and Kelly Sullivan. Chad Painchaud made it a two-goal Bakersfield lead again, when he scored at 12:05, assisted by Matt Pope and Tylor Michel.
The Steelheads tied the game, however, as Kory Scoran beat Bakersfield goalie Ryan Nie on a point shot. Picking up assists were Adam Welch and Steve Gainey. In the period's final minute, Garett Bembridge scored to tie the game at 3-3, assisted by Riley Weselowski and Matt McKnight.
Less than a minute into the second period, Garett Bembridge scored the eventual game-winner, and final goal of the game. Gainey took over possession of the puck with some gritty work on the boards, and pushed it ahead to spring Bembridge on a clear breakaway. Bembridge went in all alone and beat Nie, who appeared to make the save at first. Bembridge was had a game-best +3 rating this evening.
Matt Climie improved to 8-5-0 with the win, stopping 27 of 30 Bakersfield shots; Climie has started the Steelheads last two games; both of which are wins. He has also won in five of his last six starts. Nie falls to 4-4-2 with the loss; he stopped 23 of the 27 Idaho shots he faced.
