Steelheads Hold Off Condors, 4-3

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Idaho Steelheads overcame an early deficit to win, 4-3, against the Bakersfield Condors before 3,017 fans at Qwest Arena in Boise Wednesday night. F Andrew Ianiero led the Condors with two goals in the game, extending his scoring streak to three games (4g-2a). The Condors (8-13-4, 20pts) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period with a pair of early goals by Ianiero, who opened the scoring just 1:34 into the game by chipping in a rebound on a break. Five minutes later, Ianiero struck again with his second of the frame, sweeping in a loose puck from his knees. Idaho (15-10-2, 32pts) got on the board less than a minute after Ianiero's second tally, but RW Chad Painchaud extended the Condors lead back to two with his fifth of the season at 12:05. However, the Steelheads finished the period strong with a pair of goals to tie the score, 3-3, through 20 minutes.

Steelheads RW Garrett Bembridge scored his second of the game 56 seconds into the second period to put Idaho ahead, 4-3. The Condors out-shot the Steelheads, 11-6, in the middle stanza, but Idaho hung on to their one-goal advantage heading into the final frame.

Though both teams sent nine shots on goal in the third period, neither squad lit the lamp and Idaho claimed the 4-3 victory in the first of three straight in Boise. G Ryan Nie stopped 23 of 27 shots for the Condors.
