Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

Worcester, Massachusetts - A huge five-run fourth inning was more than enough to support the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (12-15) in a 7-1 win over the Worcester Red Sox (13-16) on Thursday night at Polar Park as they snapped a three-game losing streak.

The 'Pigs were off and running early as they loaded the bases with the first three batters of the game reaching on two walks and a single. Weston Wilson then cashed in two of those runners with a base hit to make it 2-0.

Worcester trimmed it to a one run deficit in the second. Mark Contreras walked and one out later scored on a Mark Kolozsvary RBI double.

A five-run fourth stretched the 'Pigs lead back out for good. After two walks opened the inning, Aramis Garcia plated a run with a single up the middle. A bunt moved runners to second and third where Kody Clemens drove in another with a base hit. After a strikeout, Darick Hall put a cap on the frame with a three-run homer, his fourth of the year, to make it 7-1 Lehigh Valley.

There was no more offense the rest of the way, as after a rain delay in the bottom of the fourth, the combination of Tyler McKay (0.2 IP, W, 1-1), Taylor Lehman (0.2 IP, 2K) David Parkinson (3.2 IP, 4K, H), and Griff McGarry (1.1 IP, 1K) kept the WooSox bats silent.

Major League rehabber Nick Pivetta (0-1) takes the loss for the WooSox. Pivetta allowed four runs in three-plus innings on three hits and four walks, striking out five.

The 'Pigs and WooSox square off again on Friday, May 3 with first pitch slated for 6:05 p.m. Tyler Phillips (3-1, 3.94) is slated to go for the IronPigs while the WooSox counter with Jason Alexander (1-2, 4.76)
