Cyclones Win Two of Three to Stay in Northern Race

The Cyclones won two of three games this week to move back into the playoff race in the Northern Division. Cincinnati broke a three-game losing streak with a 4-3 overtime win over Reading on Wednesday and followed that up with a 4-1 win in Peoria on Friday. On Saturday, the R-Men avenged Friday's loss by beating the Clones 4-1. This week, the Clones play four games in five nights at U.S. Bank Arena.

Wednesday, January 28-Reading 3 at Cincinnati 4 OT

A pair of Terry Marchant goals highlighted Wednesday's match-up as the Clones broke a three-game slide. After falling behind 1-0, the Clones scored three unanswered goals. Dean Stork scored his first goal of the season to even the game at one in the first period. In the second, Marchant scored his first of the contest and Jade Galbraith added another marker to stretch the Clones' lead to 3-1. Before the period ended, Reading's Brad Church scored to pull the Royals to within one of the Clones. In the third, the Royals tied the game on a goal by Graig Mischler. With the game tied at three, the teams headed for overtime. After 4:40 of scoreless hockey, Marchant slammed home a rebound off a Tyler Deis shot to win the game for the Clones.

Friday, January 30-Cincinnati 4 at Peoria 1

The Clones took the first of a two-game set in Peoria on Friday. For the second straight game, the Clones fell behind 1-0 before mounting a comeback. George Halkidis scored the only first period marker to stake Peoria to a 1-0 lead. The Clones would go on to scored four unanswered to seize control of the game. Jason Maleyko's first pro marker opened the Clones scoring at the 3:25 mark of the second period. Garrett Prosofsky would add a second period power-play goal to give the Clones a 2-1 lead. Mark Concannon and Tyler Deis added insurance goals in the third as the Clones beat the R-Men for the fourth time this season.

Saturday, January 31-Cincinnati 1 at Peoria 4

The Rivermen downed the Clones to close out the rivals' season series at Carver Arena. Terry Marchant scored 35 seconds into the game to give the Clones a 1-0 lead before Peoria scored four consecutive markers to win the game.

This Week

Wednesday, February 4-Dayton at Cincinnati

The Bombers make their last trip of the season to U.S. Bank Arena on Wednesday. The Clones are 3-1-1 at home vs. the Bombers this season.

Friday, February 6-Toledo at Cincinnati

The Clones look to avenge a 3-2 loss to the Storm the last time the teams met. The loss was the first regulation defeat of the season for the Clones vs. the Storm. This year the Clones are 4-1-1 vs. the Storm with both losses coming at U.S. Bank Arena.

Saturday, February 7-Wheeling at Cincinnati

The Clones meet the Nailers for the sixth time this year on Saturday at U.S. Bank Arena. Cincinnati won two of the teams' first three meetings before losing a pair of games at Wheeling on January 16th and 17th.

Sunday, February 8-Johnstown at Cincinnati

The Chiefs make their third visit of the season to U.S. Bank Arena on Sunday. The Clones have won both of the previous meetings, a 2-1 shootout win on November 15th and a 6-2 blowout on December 10th. The game also marks the final Sunday home game of the season for the Clones.

Clones to Watch

-Terry Marchant is the Clones nominee for ECHL Player of the Week. Marchant had three goals and two assists for five points in three games last week.

-Marchant and Garrett Prosofsky are tied for the team lead in every offensive category: goals (16), assists (21) and points (37).

-Dean Stork missed Saturday's game as a result of a boarding penalty assessed to Peoria's Greg Black. With Stork missing his first game of the season, Mark Concannon and Terry Marchant are the only Clones to appear in every game this year.
