The Johnstown Chiefs (24-15-5; 53 PTS; T-4th Northern div.) continued their hot streak as they went 1-0-1 last week. Friday night they lost in a shootout to Atlantic City and Saturday night they defeated the Reading Royals 5-2 at the War Memorial. This week the Chiefs will play four games in five nights. Wednesday night, they host the Wheeling Nailers followed up with home games against Peoria Friday and Saturday nights. Sunday afternoon, they travel to Cincinnati. The Chiefs are currently in a tie for fourth place in the Northern division with the Reading Royals. Both teams trail third place Peoria by four points.

GAME #43 (1/30/04) Atlantic City 3 - JOHNSTOWN 2 (SO) Currie 32 Saves

The Johnstown Chiefs two game winning streak was snapped Friday night as they fell to the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies 3-2 in a shootout at the War Memorial. The Chiefs had a two goal lead in the third period before surrendering two goals to the Boardwalk Bullies 1:21 apart in the 3rd period. Jim Henkel scored 0:41 into the final frame and Stefan Rivard scored at the 2:02 mark. The Chiefs got second period goals by P.L. Courchesne (power play) and Larry Courville. Chiefs goaltender David Currie made 32 saves in his first shootout loss of the season. Scott Stirling made 28 saves for Atlantic City.

GAME #44 (1/31/04) JOHNSTOWN 5 - Reading 2 Langager Goal, Two Assists

The Johnstown Chiefs scored three first period goals en route to a 5-2 win at home Saturday night over the Reading Royals. Brent Kelly, Dominic Forget and Steve Hildenbrand all scored first period goals for Johnstown. Jay Langager and Chris Leinweber also scored for the Chiefs. Leinweber's goal was his first professional tally. Lars Pettersen and Graig Mischler scored for the Royals. Chiefs goaltender David Currie made 35 saves for his 9th win of the season. Royals goaltender Cody Rudkowsky (20 saves) suffered the loss despite being pulled after the first period. Peter Hamerlik played the final two periods for Reading allowing two goals and making 12 saves.

Wednesday night, the Chiefs will take on the Northern division leaders Wheeling Nailers (32-11-2, 66 PTS; 1st Northern div.). The Chiefs are 3-1-0 against the Nailers this season and 59-58-15 all-time. Wheeling has the best record in the ECHL. The Nailers are currently on a four game winning streak and are 8-2-0 in their last ten games.

Friday and Saturday, the Peoria Rivermen (25-12-7, 57 PTS; 3rd Northern div.) come to Johnstown. The Chiefs are 3-1-2 against the Rivermen this season and 20-27-5 all-time. Peoria has won two straight game sand are 6-4-0 in their last ten games. Peoria has the best road record in the ECHL (14-4-4). Five of the six games this season between the two teams have been decided by one goal. The Chiefs trail the Rivermen by four points for third place in the division.

The Chiefs will travel to Cincinnati on Sunday to take on the Cyclones (20-23-2, 42 PTS; 7th Northern div.). The Chiefs are 2-1-1 against the Cyclones this season. Johnstown is 0-1-1 at the U.S. Bank Arena this season. The Cyclones are 3-7-0 in their last ten games.

- Goaltender David Currie was 7-0-1 in the month of January with a 1.93 GAA and a 0.939 save percentage.

- Jay Langager had 3 goals and 11 points in 13 games during the month of January.

- Jeff Sullivan leads all ECHL defensemen with 51 minor penalties
