Tuesday, January 27 Attendance: 4,893

The Condors welcomed Fresno into town on Tuesday night, and sent them home with a 6-0 drubbing. Jason Ralph scored twice, while Kevin Riehl, Paul Willett and Mike Barrie all recorded 1g-1a. Goaltender Shane Bendera stopped all 27 shots he faced in earning his second shutout of the season and third of his career. The Condors improved to 5-1 on the season against Fresno with the win. That night also featured the Project Warm Families Coat Drive, and a new record was set, with 2,860 coats collected for the United Way of Kern County. It was also the largest weekday crowd of the season for Bakersfield.

Friday, January 30

For the third time in eight days, the Condors emerged victorious from a battle with their Highway 99 rivals from Fresno. Jason Ralph scored twice for the second consecutive game and Shane Bendera stopped 27 of 29 Falcons shots to come away with a 4-2 victory at the Save Mart Center in Fresno. Paul Willett also scored for the Condors, and Jimmy Drolet added an empty netter to seal the deal.

Saturday, January 31

The Condors problems with the San Diego Gulls continued on Saturday night, when the Condors suffered a 4-2 setback. They opened up a 2-0 lead against Bakersfield with a pair of power play tallies in the first period. The Condors twice drew within a goal, only to have San Diego maintain the lead and take the win. Bakersfield slipped to 1-6-1 on the year against the Gulls with the loss.

Where We're At

The Condors remain in fifth place in the Pacific Division, gaining four points this week on the Alaska Aces for the fourth and final playoff spot in the division. They currently stand 17 points behind Alaska, three points ahead of sixth place Long Beach and seven points ahead of seventh place Fresno.

Notes from the Nest

· After dropping the first game of the season against Fresno, the Condors have won six straight against the Falcons by a combined score of 20-8.

· Jason Ralph's four-goal effort this week put him into a tie with Johan Astrom for the team lead in goal scoring. He has moved into a tie for 5th place all-time in Condors scoring (not including the Bakersfield Fog) with 121 points.

· D Jimmy Drolet's +5 on Tuesday night tied a team-high and league-high for the season. Of the eight players to record a +5 this year in the ECHL, four of them have been Condors.

· The Condors have won back-to-back games this week for the first time since November 16th and 19th, but their Saturday loss stopped the string at two games. They have not won three straight games all season.

· Bakersfield has scored a power play goal in seven of the last ten games.

Quote of the Week

"A lot of people consider us big underdogs and we have no pressure on us. Our goal is to make the playoffs." – Condors leading scorer C Kevin Riehl, after last Tuesday's 6-0 win over Fresno on home ice.
