Charlotte trails the Stingrays by four points in the Southern Division. The Rays have a mark of 3-1 this season against the Checkers with two wins coming at Cricket Arena. The Stingrays will play the Checkers in three of their next seven games.

Thursday, February 5, 2004 Vs Roanoke 7:05 @ North Charleston Coliseum

Roanoke trails the Stingrays by four points in the Southern Division. The Express has handled the Rays twice this season with two 3-1 wins. This game will be the third game of a five game season series with the Express.

The Stingrays have a record of 3-1 this season against the Everblades with all three of South Carolina's wins coming in Florida. The Everblades have a record of 0-3-2 in their last five games. They sit in second place in the Southern Division.

This is the third game of a three game home stand for the Stingrays. The Rays have a record of 12-8-0 at the Coliseum.

Jim Lorentz scored the game winner for the Stingrays and Kirk Daubenspeck made 33 saves for his second win in a four game winning streak.

Friday, January 30, 2004 Stingrays 4 @ Florida 3 SO

The Stingrays had a 3-1 lead late in the third period, but the Everblades rallied to force a shootout. Marty Clapton netted the game winner in the fifth round of the shootout and Mike Jickling had a goal and two assists in the win.

Curtis Huppe scored two of the Stingrays three unanswered goals as the Stingrays swept the season series in Florida for the first time in franchise history. Kirk Daubenspeck ran his winning streak to four games with the victory, his third of the year at TECO.

The Team:

The Stingrays are all alone in fourth place in the Southern Division with a record of 25-14-2. The Rays have multiple games in hand on every other team in the division and their current four game winning streak is the longest in the Division. The Rays are 6-3-1 in their last ten games and have improved to 13-6-2 on the road with a three game road winning streak. The Stingrays are 16-8-1 against teams in the Southern Division and 9-6-1 against the other divisions. The Rays are 3-1 in overtime games, 3-1 in shootout games and 11-1-1 in one goal games overall. When they score first, the Stingrays are 17-4-2. South Carolina has allowed just 2.59 goals against per game this season which ranks eighth in the league. Offensively the team is ranked 18th averaging 2.95 goals per game. The Rays power play jumped into the top ten in the ECHL for the first time this season. It ranks tenth in the league at 19.2%.

The Players:

Kirk Daubenspeck continued to play extremely well this week with three wins to run his current winning streak to four. The Wisconsin native allowed an average of two goals against per game in his three wins this week, all on the road. His record is 19-7-2 and he has a goals against average of 2.43 which keeps him among the league leaders, along with his save percentage of .925. Daubenspeck has won eight of his last nine starts. Ed Courtenay has 13 points in his last ten games on nine goals and four assists. Defenseman Matt Desrosiers has eleven points on two goals and nine assists in his last ten games. He is now tied for second on the team with five power play goals.
