Who: Cyclones vs. Dayton
When: Thursday, April 5, 2007 - 7:30pm. Tickets available at the gate.
Where: U.S. Bank Arena (100 Broadway).
What: Showdown for first place in the North Division of the ECHL. Both teams have 80 points and a Cyclones win Thursday and Friday (v. Charlotte) would give Cincinnati its first pro hockey division championship since 1995-96.
Why: Cincinnati has clinched its first pro hockey playoff berth since the spring of 2003, when the club advanced to the ECHL's American Conference Finals before losing to Atlantic City in seven games. The Cyclones 37 wins are the most in this club's history.
Cyclones Notes: Took five of six points (2-0-1) in last three road games to set up showdown...Mike Wirll's 47 goals lead ECHL, chasing Andrew Williamson (Toledo, 2000-01), the last ECHL player with 50 goals (52)...Cedrick Desjardins was named the goaltender on the ECHL's All-Rookie Team...Cincinnati has a 7-3-1 record against the Bombers this season.
Dayton Notes: Yannick Tifu is fourth in the ECHL in scoring with 84 points (27-57-84)...Adam Berkhoel is third in the league in goaltending with a 2.39 goals against average and five shutouts...Dayton is 12-5-4 since February 27.
