CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones received word this afternoon that goaltender Cedrick Desjardins has been named to the ECHL's All-Rookie team. He is one of six first-year players in the league named to the squad.

Desjardins, a 21-year old rookie, on assignment from the Hamilton Bulldogs (American Hockey League) and under contract with the NHL's Montreal Canadiens, has a 24-17-1 record, 2.52 goals against average (fifth best in the ECHL) and a .919 save percentage. Desjardins is sixth in the ECHL in shutouts with three. Cedrick made nine saves and was the winning goaltender for the American Conference at the 2007 ECHL All-Star Game back in January.

Desjardins, spent last season with the Quebec Ramparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He led the QMJHL with five shutouts and had an eleven game winning streak during the month of November. Cedrick finished the season with a 28-10-0 record and a 2.95 goals against average. He also had a nine game winning streak during February.

Desjardins was in goal for Quebec when it won the Memorial Cup (Canadian junior hockey's equivalent to the Stanley Cup) last season and played in those finals with Rimouski (and was a teammate of NHL star Sidney Crosby) in 2004-05.

"Cedrick is a key reason that we are chasing a top playoff seeding," Cincinnati Cyclones Head Coach Chuck Weber said. "This is a tremendous honor for him and this team and organization. It was great to see that he has been recognized for his achievements this season."

The Cyclones are next in action on Thursday, April 5, when the Dayton Bombers roll into U.S. Bank Arena at 7:30pm. The teams will enter the game tied for first place in the North Division standings.
