Wranglers streak to 11th straight win, 4-2 over Long Beach

LAS VEGAS, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Long Beach Ice Dogs 4-2 on Wednesday night at the Long Beach Arena. Arpad Mihaly scored twice for Las Vegas in the win. Wranglers' goalie Mike McKenna made 21 saves for his 25th win of the season. Long Beach goalie Brett Jaeger stopped 22 Las Vegas shots in the loss. With the win Las Vegas eliminated Long Beach from Kelly Cup Playoff contention. The Wranglers will return home to host the Stockton Thunder this Friday and Saturday night at the Orleans Arena with both games at 7:05pm (PST).

In the first period, Joe Tallari started the scoring for Las Vegas when he redirected a loose puck at the top of the crease past Ice Dogs' goalie Brett Jaeger for the 1-0 lead. The Wranglers pushed the lead to 2-0 when Steve Crampton tallied his 22nd goal of the season with assists from Adam Cracknell and Aki Seitsonen at 13:46.

In the second period, Arpad Mihaly scored a power-play goal when he redirected a Jason Jozsa shot from the point to give the Wranglers a 3-0 lead.

In the third period, the Ice Dogs got on the board when Brad Bonello scored his 16th goal of the season to make the score 3-1. Long Beach winger Brandon Schwartz scored his 18th of the year with 9:01 remaining cutting the Wranglers lead to one. Wranglers' forward Arpad Mihaly ended the Long Beach comeback attempt with his second goal of the night, an empty-net goal with 1:09 remaining.

Las Vegas will conclude the season with two games against Stockton at the Orleans Arena on Friday, April 6th and Saturday, April 7th at 7:05 pm. Friday, the Wranglers will hand out hats to the first 2,000 fans compliments of KB Home.
