Cyclones To Receive Cricket Cup Prior To Tomorrow's Game

CINCINNATI, April 4, 2007 - The Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL, have won the coveted Cricket Cup by coming out on top of the season long series with the Dayton Bombers. The Cricket Cup is sponsored by Cricket Communications of Southwest Ohio.

The cup will be awarded Thursday, April 5, during pre-game festivities for the final match up in the twelve game series, 7:30 p.m. at US Bank Arena. Kelly Lesko of Cricket will be presenting the cup and taking part in the puck drop.

It was a tight series all season long with Cincinnati and Dayton trading victories in the best of 12 show down. The series was tied until last month when Cincinnati strung together two wins to clinch the rivalry with victory number seven on March 18th in Dayton. Cincinnati Cyclones Head Coach Chuck Weber "With the proximity of these two teams, it makes sense that there would be a rivalry."

The Cricket Cup was established to benefit the Make-A Wish Foundation as part of the Cricket Cares program. Cricket Cares is dedicated to lending a hand to the fine charities and not for profits helping people in need in our community. Each time a goal was scored during the 12 Cricket Cup match ups, Cricket Communications, donated $25 to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

"We enjoyed sponsoring this exciting I-75 rivalry," said Kevin Jones of Cricket Communications. "Not only did the competition for the cup add new stakes to the ECHL hockey season, but it gave us a way to give something back to the families of children who are battling a life threatening illness."
