Cyclones Snap Nailers Five Game Unbeaten Streak

CINCINNATI, OH ‚¬" Goaltender Marc Chevrie made 25 saves to help lead the Cincinnati Cylones to a 2-1 victory over the Wheeling Nailers at US Bank Arena Friday night. With the loss, the Nailers have their five game unbeaten streak snapped.

Wheeling started the scoring just 27 seconds into the contest, when Mikael Bedard broke into the zone on a 2-on-1 and slid the puck to Alex Smigelski who hammered home a shot to give the Nailers the 1-0 lead. Exactly two minutes later The Cylones tied the game on Ryan Del Monte's first goal of the season

The Cyclones took the lead 2-1 at 6:20 of the second period, when Barrett Eghoitz fed a pass on a 2-on-1 rush to Matt Peirce who fired it past goaltender Patrick Killeen.

The Nailers were unable to crack the scoreboard in the third as Cylones goaltender Marc Chevrie made all the saves down the stretch to preserve the 2-1 win.

Both teams will meet again Saturday Night at 7:35 p.m. inside US Bank Arena. The Nailers return home on Sunday to face the Reading Royals. Game time is set for 7:35 p.m. Santa Claus will be on hand, and there will be a postgame skate with the players. Bring a non-winning WV Lottery ticket, and receive $2 off admission.
