GREENVILLE, SC - After three scoreless, physical, back and forth periods the game came down to Warriors forward Mark Voakes and Gladiators goaltender Billy Sauer in an overtime penalty shot.

Voakes beat Sauer low with a deke to the near post, sealing a 1-0 Greenville (19-6-2) win. It was Voakes' 13th goal of the season 2:47 into OT.

Gwinnett (12-9-5) did pick up a point, but extended their winless streak to six games.

Despite the loss Gwinnett easily put forth their best effort of the month of December, matching Greenville chance for chance through 60 minutes. Sauer made the play of the game late in the third, reaching across on a centering feed to the near post and making a spectacular glove save to preserve the tie.

Sauer stopped 25 of 26 shots, while Dov Grumet-Morris pitched the 20 save shutout for the Road Warriors.

The Gladiators are back in action Saturday at 7:05 p.m. EST at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.
