South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, SC -South Carolina Stingrays players, staff and booster association brought holiday cheer to the children of MUSC Children's Hospital on Thursday, December 16 at the Child Life Atrium. Stingrays players and staff played games and shared laughs with the children and the SC Stingrays Booster Association donated over 300 boxes of children's bandages.
"When you see what these kids are going through, it puts a lot of things into perspective," said Stingrays President Rob Concannon. "You can see how happy the children are when they see the players in their jerseys and it takes their mind away from the difficulties they are dealing with every day. If it's for 30 seconds or three hours, we leave knowing how happy we made the children and how lucky we are to be healthy, working and living in this great city."
The players and staff played video games and air hockey, colored pictures, made music and shared toys with the children.
"Your heart just melts for some of these kids," said Stingrays defenseman Johann Kroll. "It's fun to come here and cheer them up."
The Stingrays Booster Association presented MUSC Children's hospital with over 300 boxes of cartoon and colorful bandages along with board games and video games donated by Stingrays fans and booster club members.
"Our Booster Club membership is very supportive of the MUSC Children's Hospital," said SC Stingrays Booster Association President Nancy Sullivan. "Each year, we partner with the Stingrays to provide items the hospital needs for their Atrium. When we heard about the need for bandages, we knew that we could count on our members to help out. We were also happy to partner with the Ft. Dorchester High School JROTC with this cause. It was a simple way to make a big difference in the day of a sick child. We are so proud of our fans and our community for their wonderful response."
The Stingrays return to the North Charleston Coliseum tonight, Friday, December 17 at 7:05 p.m. to host the Florida Everblades. Tonight is Ugly Holiday Sweater Night and 100.9 Way FM Family Friday. Wear your ugly Holiday sweater to the game and you could be selected to win a Stingrays jersey!
