Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

CINCINNATI - Twenty-one has become the Cincinnati Cyclones favorite number this season.

The Cincinnati Cyclones extended their unbeaten in regulation streak at home to 21 games, in a 4-3 shootout win over Reading on Saturday night. Eight different Cincinnati players had points, as Max Daigneault turned aside 26 shots in picking up his ninth win of the season. The triumph was the 21st come-from-behind win for the Cyclones this season.

Following a scoreless first period, the teams combined for five goals in the second frame. The Cyclones opened the scoring 4:10 into the stanza as rookie David Desharnais picked up his 20th goal of the season from Alexandre Dulac-Lemelin. Desharnais rolled the puck along the ice from the slot to beat Terry Denike and lift the lid on the scoring. Reading got the next two goals from Joe Zappala, his 16th and 17th at 5:57 on the power play and at 9:06, to give the Royals a 2-1 edge.

For Zappala, it was the eighth consecutive game that he has scored a goal in-tying the ECHL's season-long originally set by Cyclones forward Jean-Michel Daoust.

Cincinnati tied the game at 2-2, when Scott Reynolds netted his twelfth goal of the campaign at 11:59. Reynolds led a three-on-two charge and fired a shot from just inside the right point and followed the rebound to the left slot and rifled the shot past Denike's glove hand. A power play goal from Matt Syroczynski at 17:02-his 26th of the year-from Matheiu Aubin and Sean Perkins, gave Cincinnati a 3-2 edge.

For Desharnais, it marked the 26th consecutive game that he has registered a point-the longest stretch in the ECHL this season. During this run, Desharnais has nine goals and 34 assists for 43 points and has since taken over the ECHL's scoring lead with 78 points. It also marked the 30th time this season that Cincinnati has scored three or more goals in a period.

In the third period, Reading got the lone goal-the seventh of the season from Patrick Jarrett at 3:20 on the power play. The shots favored Cincinnati in the frame, 7-5.

In the overtime, Reading outshot Cincinnati, 6-2 and for the game-the Cyclones outshot Reading, 33-29.

That sent the game to the shootout, where the Cyclones got scores from Thomas Beauregard, Aubin and Olivier Latendresse netted scores in the bonus frame.

The Cincinnati Cyclones are 36 games above .500 for the first time in team history, with a 45-9-3 record and sole possession of first place in the North Division-20 points ahead of second place Elmira and 21 ahead of Reading for third place. The win gives Cincinnati a 29-3-1 record since December 15. Reading is 33-19-6. The 45 wins are the most ever by the club.

The Cyclones are next in action on Wednesday night (March 12), when Wheeling comes to U.S. Bank Arena for a 7:30pm tilt.
