Bakersfield Condors News Release
LAS VEGAS - G Michel Robinson led the Bakersfield Condors to a 2-1 shootout victory against the Las Vegas Wranglers in front of 5,753 fans at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas Friday night. Robinson stopped 34 of 35 shots and blanked the Wranglers in the shootout for his seventh win of the season.
At the 12:36 mark of the first period, LW Mark Derlago backhanded the rebound from a D Jay Langager wrist shot into the Las Vegas net. Derlago's team-leading 29th goal of the year put the Condors (18-32-9, 45 points) up, 1-0, through the first 20 minutes of play.
The Wranglers (37-11-12, 86 points) knotted the score 6:44 into the second stanza, as Las Vegas RW Peter Ferraro netted his 30th tally of the season. Bakersfield put 10 shots on goal in the frame, but entered the second intermission in a 1-1 tie.
The two teams combined for only 13 shots in the third period, as neither broke the tie, sending the game to overtime and eventually the shootout.
In the shootout, LW Brett Lutes scored and Robinson stopped all five Wranglers, leading Bakersfield to the 2-1 win.
Notes from The Nest:
D Jay Langager registered an assist tonight, and now has three points (1g-2a) in his last two games. With the win tonight, the Condors are back within two points of the Phoenix RoadRunners for the final National Conference playoff spot.
