TODAY'S MATCHUP: After a wild finish to last night's tilt at U.S. Bank Arena, the Cyclones and Nailers resume their heated season series in Wheeling, West Virginia. Cincinnati downed their West Virginian foes 4-1, but the big headline from Saturday night was a late-game brawl that resulted in a total of 117 penalty minutes between the two teams. All-time against the Nailers (since 2006), the Clones are 48-32-0-3.

SCOUTING THE NAILERS: Clark Donatelli's club has dropped seven of their last ten games, slipping to tenth place in the Eastern Conference standings. With another assist last night, Sahir Gill remains the active leader in team scoring with 29 points (8 goals, 21 assists) in 35 games. Defenseman Mike Ratchuck follows him closely with 21 tallies (7 goals, 14 assists) in 37 contests. So far in the season series, Mike Condon has been the only Wheeling netminder to face the Cyclones, going 3-3-0-1 with a 2.25 goals-against average. Overall this season, he's gone 13-9-0-4 with a 2.53 GAA. Peter Mannino and Kieran Millan are the Nailers other goaltending reinforcements, but neither have seen action to this point.

LAST HEAD-TO-HEAD MEETING: JANUARY 25, 2014: Josh Shalla provided the biggest fireworks of the night, scoring twice to lead the Cyclones over the Nailers by a 4-1 final score in front of 7,839 at U.S. Bank Arena. Former Nailer Paul Crowder recorded two assists in the victory, giving him four points in seven games against his former team. Goaltender Rob Madore was solid in net, turning aside 25 of the 26 shots he faced in the tilt.

Close Shaves: Cincinnati has been one of the best ECHL teams in one-goal games this season. Their 12 wins in such situations are more than any other club. This season, they are 12-5-1-1. Even more impressively, they are 8-3-0-1 in one-goal road games.

"Howe" Impressive: The Cyclones strong defensive numbers are thanks in part to rookie goaltender Joe Howe. So far through nine starts this season, he is 7-1-1 with a stellar 1.98 goals-against average. He has the second-best GAA in January among goaltenders with 300 minutes-played.

Unfriendly Houseguests: After wrapping up their five-game home stand last night, the Cyclones will look to improve upon one of the best road records in the ECHL. They have earned the third most road points of any team in the league, going 13-4-0-1.
