Ontario Reign News Release

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign (27-8-2-3), back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, found their groove against the Stockton Thunder (21-14-0-5) to win 5-2 on Sunday evening at Stockton Arena.

Reign newcomers Sacha Guimond and Maxim Kitsyn shone with a goal and an assist each and Cameron Burt posted two points with two assists.

The Thunder's James Henry made the most of his team's first power play as he scooped up the rebound from a pointshot from Ryan Constant. Henry caught Jussi Olkinuora flat-footed after saving the original Stockton shot and pushed the puck between Olkinuora's blockerside and the right post. Matt White evened the score while on the power play. White was in close to Thunder goaltender Brian Foster and pushed the puck past the goal line at 15:42.

In the second period, Kitsyn got the Reign ahead 2-1 with his first ECHL goal. Gasper Kopitar fired a shot on net and Kitsyn caught the rebound and slammed it home for Ontario at 6:47. Guimond earned his first point of the night on the goal. Mario Lamoureux was the next Reign skater to light the lamp as his shot beat the glove of Foster at 16:50. Kyle Kraemer and Burt earned the assists.

Guimond earned his first Reign goal of the season at the 9:38 mark of the third period. The defenseman breezed through the Thunder zone and with a quick poke of the puck gave the Reign a 4-1 lead. Kitsyn and Burt earned their second points of the game with the assists. Greg Miller cut the Reign's lead to two with a quick shot past Olkinuora's blocker at 11:42. Stockton pulled Foster for the final moments of the third period and Matt Register launched the puck down the ice and got it across the crease for a short-handed, empty-net goal to end the game 5-2 in favor of the Reign.

Olkinuora earned the win with 28 saves, Foster took the loss with 31 saves.
