Matchup:
The Solar Bears face off against the Florida Everblades this afternoon as they look to extend a five game unbeaten streak (4-0-1) at the Amway Center. Orlando was last in action on Thursday, taking a 4-3 victory over the Gwinnett Gladiators. The Solar Bears got on the board twice in the opening period on goals from F Taylor Matson and F Mike Duco as they took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. The two teams traded goals at the tail end of the second period as the Solar Bears preserved their two goal advantage heading into the final frame. Gwinnett drew back to within one on a slap shot from the blue line three minutes into the third, but Matson answered with his second of the game to put Orlando ahead 4-2. The Gladiators tallied one more goal late in the period, but the Solar Bears held off Gwinnett to take the 4-3 win. Florida is playing their third game in three nights after falling in back-to-back games against the South Carolina Stingrays on Friday and Saturday. Friday night's contest saw South Carolina take a 2-0 lead midway through the second period. Florida made it close with a goal late in the third to take the game to a 3-2 score, but the Stingrays notched an empty netter to secure the 4-2 final score. Yesterday, it was once again the Stingrays scoring the first two goals of the game, with the Everblades not getting on the board until 12:14 of the third period to make it a 2-1 game. The Stingrays notched two empty net goals to end the contest and take back-to-back wins over Florida.
