Colorado Eagles News Release

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles (21-11-5-2) failed to ignite a rally in a 4-1 loss to the Alaska Aces (25-10-2-1) at the Budweiser Events Center on Saturday night.

Less than three minutes into the first frame Aces forward Nick Mazzolini beat Eagles netminder Marc Cheverie with a quick one-timer from the slot to give Alaska the early 1-0 lead.

Alaska defenseman Sean Curry inflated the Aces lead to 2-0 as he scored a short-handed goal just over one minute into the second period. Colorado forward Alex Hudson answered this time, not even twenty seconds later, as he grabbed the rebound off of a shot from forward A.J. Hau to put the Eagles on the board, 2-1.

Mazzolini netted the puck for the second time in the contest to gain a 3-1 lead over the Eagles 3:40 into the third stanza. With 1:15 left in the game the Eagles pulled Cheverie to add the extra attacker but with less than thirty seconds left in the game Alaska forward Brendan Connolly scored on Colorado's empty net to secure the Aces 4-1 win.
