Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
Moline, IL - The Cincinnati Cyclones (39-29-3-0) fell to the Quad City Mallards, 4-3 on Saturday night, in the final ECHL game in Quad City's history. Forwards Myles Powell, Brandon McNally, and Dominic Zombo scored the goals for the Cyclones.
After the Mallards took a 1-0 lead after the first on a power play tally from defenseman Willie Raskob, Cincinnati pulled even 7:51 into the second when Powell netted his first pro goal to tie the game, 1-1. The Mallards answered right back on a marker from forward Quentin Shore to regain the lead, 2-1, 11:49 into the frame.
Cincinnati was not deterred and managed to tie the game roughly two minutes later while on a delayed penalty, when McNally took the puck in the slot and sniped in a shot to bring the 'Clones back level, 2-2. The Cyclones took the lead late in the period, when defenseman Anthony Florentino fired a shot that was kicked out, but Zombo was on the back door to slam in the rebound to put Cincinnati up, 3-2, after 40 minutes.
The Mallards were not down for long, as they received a pair from Stanislav Dzakhov to take a 4-3 lead, 6:02 into the third. Cincinnati got some quality scoring chances late in the game, including several close calls with the extra attacker, however were not able to net the equalizer, and the Mallards held on for the 4-3 win.
The Cyclones were outshot, 49-31 on the evening, with goaltender Joseph Raaymakers stopping 45 in his pro hockey debut. The Cyclones wrap up the regular season on Sunday afternoon in Ft. Wayne against the Komets. Face-off is slated for 5:00pm ET.
