Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
Indianapolis, IN- The Cincinnati Cyclones (21-19-3-1) fell to the Indy Fuel, 2-1, on Saturday night. Forward Andrew Yogan scored the lone goal for the Cyclones.
Similar to Friday night, the Cyclones wasted little time finding the back of the net in the first period, as 7:34 into the frame, Yogan took the puck in the neutral zone and blew by a Fuel defender over the left wing blue line, and snapped a shot past Fuel netminder Shane Owen, giving Cincinnati a 1-0 lead.
The Fuel responded roughly five minutes later, when a shot was tipped into the net by forward Daniel Ciampini, tying the game, 1-1.
The 1-1 score held up throughout the remainder of the first period, and in the second, the Fuel took the lead midway through, when defenseman Nick Petrecki lit the lamp, putting Indy up, 2-1, after 40 minutes.
Cincinnati ratcheted up the intensity and offensive pressure in the third, receiving a number of high-quality scoring opportunities. Cyclones netminder Andy Iles came up big in the final 20 minutes as well, making a number of big saves as time dwindled down.
With Iles on the bench in the last minute, Cincinnati sent a barrage of shots towards the net, however could not secure the equalizer, and Indy held on for the 2-1 win. Cincinnati outshot the Fuel, 30-28, with Iles stopping 26 in the loss. Cincinnati returns home on Wednesday night to take on the Kalamazoo Wings, in the fourth and final meeting of the season between the two sides. Faceoff is slated for 7:35pm ET.
