INDEPENDENCE, MO - Colorado's seven-game winning streak came to a conclusion on Saturday night as the Missouri Mavericks held on for a 2-1 victory at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena in Independence.

The Eagles would jump on the board first in the contest when defenseman Jake Marto drove down the left wing, circled behind the net and centered a pass to the low-slot, which forward Kyle Ostrow slammed home to make it 1-0 Colorado with 6:24 remaining in the first period.

The Mavericks would strike back, as the Eagles faced a 5-on-3 penalty kill, as forward Rocco Carzo fielded a cross-slot pass from fellow forward Jesse Root and fired it past Eagles goalie Clarke Saunders to knot the score at 1-1 with 2:35 remaining in the first. The two teams would head to the dressing room deadlocked at 1-1 at the conclusion of the first 20 minutes of play.

Missouri would claim their first lead of the night on an odd-man rush, as Root took a drop-pass at the top of the left circle and unleashed a slapshot that found the back of the net and gave the Mavericks the 2-1 lead, just 4:28 into the middle frame.

With Missouri leading 2-1 after two periods, Colorado continued to apply pressure throughout the third period, even pulling Saunders in favor of the extra attacker, which led to a flurry of chances, but the Mavericks would not surrender the equalizer and held on for the 2-1 win.

The Eagles return home to take on the Rapid City Rush next Wednesday at 7:05pm MST at the Budweiser Events Center.

Tickets for groups of 15 or more start at just $14 per seat and can be purchased by calling the Eagles ticket office at 970-686-SHOT (7468).
