Cutters Named as a Golden Bobblehead Finalist
August 13, 2015 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Williamsport Crosscutters Pet Jersey/Bark in the Park promotion has been named a Golden Bobblehead Awards finalist, by Minor League Baseball, in the category of Best Charity Promotion or Event.
The promotion encouraged fans to send in photos of their pets to be featured on a special jersey that the Crosscutters players wore July 10-12 during their "Pet Friendly Weekend". Over 150 pet photos were submitted including dogs, cats, lizards, fish, horses and even a donkey. Over 100 of the photos were used on the special-edition jerseys that were up for bid in a silent auction on July 12 during the team's annual "Bark in the Park" promotion. The jersey auction netted a total of $4,200 that was donated to the Lycoming County SPCA.
"The idea for the promotion actually came from our new Principal Owner Peter Freund," said Gabe Sinicropi, the Crosscutters Vice-President of Marketing and Public Relations. "For the Minor League Baseball industry, this is like being nominated for an Emmy, a Tony or an Oscar, so just being nominated is truly an honor."
The Golden Bobblehead Awards were created by Minor League Baseball five years ago to recognize the best promotions of the year in various categories. Nearly 300 promotions were submitted this year by the 160 teams in MiLB with 24 chosen as finalists. The award categories include; Best Theme Night, Best In-Game Promotion, Best Non-Gameday Event, and Best Charity Promotion or Event.
All award finalists will present their promotions at the MiLB Promotional Seminar September 29 - October 1 in Columbus, Ohio. Promotional Seminar attendees will vote for the winner of the Golden Bobblehead Awards after nominees describe why their promotion or event deserves recognition as the best promotion or event in their respective category.
The Crosscutters 2015 regular season continues through September 7. Tickets for all remaining home games are available at crosscutters.com or by calling (570) 326-3389.
