
Curve outlasted in loss

ALTOONA - In a game that featured 24 runs, 28 hits, five errors and lasted three hours and 43 minutes at the end of the night found the Reading Phillies on the top end of the stick, defeating the Altoona Curve 15-9 on Friday night at Blair County Ballpark.
Reading (53-86) chased Curve starter Jared Hughes (2-2) after just 2 2/3 innings. Hughes issued six runs on eight hits over that span.
With the Curve trailing 7-1 entering the fourth, Altoona mounted a comeback attempt against Reading starter Edgar Garcia (1-7).
Three Curve players scored to cut the deficit to 7-4, including Jonel Pacheco, who enjoyed a 4-for-4 night.
Reading would go on to score eight more runs in the contest, including three in the seventh, and four in the ninth inning. The R-Phils never trailed in the game.
Other offensive standouts in the game for Altoona included Brad Corley, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI's. Jason Bowers and Miguel Perez each had a pair of RBI's in the contest as well.
The Curve will look to avenge Friday's loss on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. in the second game of the series against the R-Phils. Right-hander Yoslan Herrera (6-9, 3.41) will take the hill for the Curve against Reading righty Patrick Overholt (3-8, 5.86).
The first 2,000 fans through the gates on Saturday will take away the final edition of the Curve's commemorative Tenth Anniversary Photo Ball giveaway, presented by StrYve Fitness. The photo ball will feature Curve greats J.R. House and Chris Duffy.
Saturday is also Nerd Night at BCB, featuring an appearance from super nerd Myron Noodleman. Following Saturday's game, kids can run the bases courtesy of Thomas Chevrolet of Bedford.

Season tickets for the 2009 season are also on sale now. While at BCB, fans are urged to visit a Curve ticket representative to see how they can guarantee their same great seat for the remainder of the season.
