Rock Cats offense stagnant in loss

New Britain Rock Cats News Release


New Britain, CT - Salvador Paniagua hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth to give the Binghamton Mets a 3-1 win over the Rock Cats on Friday night.

The Rock Cats struck first with back-to-back doubles by Danny Berg and Brandon Roberts, with Roberts' hit to left field scoring Berg for a 1-0 lead.

Binghamton answered back with an RBI double by Caleb Stewart in the sixth inning that tied the game.

Jay Rainville turned in another impressive outing for the Rock Cats, limiting the B-Mets to one run on three hits in 5 2/3 innings. He struck out seven. Jose Mijares (1-1) took the loss for the Rock Cats after allowing the home run in the ninth.

Edgar Alfonzo (2-2) picked up the win with one scoreless inning in relief. Al Reyes notched his first save of the season.
