Altoona Curve News Release

TRENTON, NJ - The Curve started off strong, but could not keep pace with the Trenton offense as the Thunder took the series opener 10-5 at Waterfront Park.

Altoona got on the board first in the second inning on back to back home runs by Jamie Romak and Miguel Perez to put the Curve ahead 3-0.

It would not take long for the Thunder to respond. Trenton picked up three runs in the bottom half of the second after five consecutive singles to tie the game. Trenton would take the lead in the fifth inning putting up four runs on just two hits. Curve starter Mike Crotta (3-2) would load the bases after two walks and a hit batsman before Kyle Anson hit a bases clearing double and would score one batter later on another double by Justin Snyder to put the Thunder on top 7-3.

Pedro Lopez hit a solo home run in the sixth to pull the Curve closer but again Trenton answered with a run in the seventh on a fielder's choice making the score 8-4. Lopez would score again in the eighth on a fielder's choice and the Thunder answered once more this time with two runs in the bottom of the eighth on a James Cooper single.

Lopez would finish the game 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI to give him the team lead in multi hit games with 13.

Altoona (15-32) will be looking to even the series Saturday night with LHP Daniel Moskos (2-4, 4.53) on the mound. Trenton (23-22) will counter with RHP Christian Garcia (1-0, 0.00). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with radio coverage beginning at 6:50 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network.
