Rock Cats Fall to Binghamton

New Britain, CT - Binghamton's Ryan Coultas fired eight scoreless innings and his offense turned out two three-run innings as the B-Mets shutout the Rock Cats, 6-0 on Friday night.

Coultas (4-2) limited the Rock Cats to two hits while striking out four. Edgar Alfonzo tossed a scoreless ninth to close out the game and secure the shutout.

The B-Mets stung Rock Cats starter Jeff Manship for three runs in the second inning. Shawn Bowman started the inning off with a triple to center field and D.J. Wabick followed with a double to right field that knocked in Bowman for a 1-0 lead. Wabick came around to score on Ruben Tejada's one-out groundout. Emmanuel Garcia rounded out the scoring with an RBI single to left field.

Manship (4-4) settled down to shut down the B-Mets for the next five innings as he scattered eight hits over seven innings.

Binghamton struck for three more runs in the eighth against relievers Jose Lugo and Anthony Slama. Tejada delivered a bases loaded single that scored Bowman. Garcia (2-for-5, 3 RBI) added a two-run single to left field. Lugo started the inning by allowing a single to Bowman and a double to Wabick before he walked Carl Loadenthal to load the bases. Lugo struck out Jose Coronado before being lifted for Slama. Lugo was charged with all three runs.
