Curtin named first team All-ECHL
April 5, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Fresno Falcons News Release
FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno Falcons assistant captain Luke Curtin was named First Team All-ECHL today as determined in a vote by ECHL coaches. Curtin becomes the first Falcon in the team's three seasons of play in the ECHL to garner such an honor.
In his eighth year as a pro, Curtin established a new career high this season with 82 points (21g-61a), besting his previous career mark of 78 points he set in 2003-04 when he was also named First Team All-ECHL as a member of the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies.
Earlier this season, Curtin was named MVP of the 2006 ECHL All-Star Game played at Save Mart Center and recorded his 500th professional point on Feb. 27 against the Bakersfield Condors with a game-winning, power play goal. Currently on injured reserve and slated to miss Fresno's final two games of the regular season, Curtin was tied for the league lead in both points and assists when he was placed on IR on March 26. The four-time ECHL All-Star still leads the league in power play points (45) and power play assists (37).
Joining Curtin on the league's First Team are forwards Alex Leavitt (Alaska Aces) and Jeff Campbell (Gwinnett Gladiators), defensemen Ryan Gaucher (Alaska Aces) and Troy Milam (Gwinnett Gladiators), and goaltender Matt Underhill (Alaska Aces).
The Falcons conclude the regular season this Friday and Saturday at Save Mart Center against the Alaska Aces and Long Beach Ice Dogs, respectively. Both games begin at 7 p.m.
The first 2,000 fans on Friday will receive a Matt Thomas wind-up walker courtesy of KSEE 24 and Y101. Saturday night is Fan Appreciation Night, with the first 2,500 fans receiving a Pacific Division Champion t-shirt courtesy of Alpha Designs, CBS 47, and Mega 97.9.
Individual tickets are on sale now for both games at all Ticketmaster outlets and Save Mart Center's box office with prices ranging from $8 - $23.
