Idaho Steelheads News Release

BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads announced today they have signed forward Aaron Slattengren (SLAHT-en-gren) to an ECHL contract - a day after the Iowa Stars, the Steelheads American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, released him from his AHL Amateur Tryout Contract (AMO).

The 6-1, 195-pound native of Duluth, Minnesota appeared in just one game for Iowa during his ATO, on April 1st in Cleveland. A four-year product of Colorado College, he accumulated 88 points (43g-45a) in 145 games for the Tigers. Slattengren served as the captain of the Omaha Lancers in 2001-02, his second season with the USHL club, and led all scorers in the USHL Clark Cup playoffs that year with 18 points (7g-11a) in 13 games. The 24-year-old was named to the 2002 USHL All-Star Team.

Slattengren, who traveled to San Diego yesterday, will debut with the Steelheads in tonight's regular season finale along with defenseman Kory Skoran (Score-an) who was signed on Monday. The 6-3, 225-pound Scoran, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, has been practicing with Idaho for a couple of weeks, but was not eligible to play until now due to pending immigration. Scoran, 24, is a product of Lake Superior State University where he was a 2005-06 teammate of current Steelheads players Alex Dunn and Mike Adamek.

The Steelheads open the first round of the ECHL Kelly Cup playoffs with Games 1 and 2 next week against either Las Vegas or Alaska. Games 3 and 4 of the best-of-seven series will be played at Qwest Arena on Friday, April 14th and Saturday, April 15th. Tickets for Friday's and Saturday's home games are now on sale at the Qwest Arena Box Office and Select-A-Seat outlets, by calling 331-TIXS (8497). Prices range from $12.50 - $33.50. Fans are encouraged to wear white to create a "white out!"
