2005-06 All-ECHL First Team Announced

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL on Wednesday announced the First Team All-ECHL selections as determined in a vote of ECHL coaches.

F - Jeff Campbell, Gwinnett Gladiators (60 gp, 30g, 50a, 80 pts, +26)
F - Luke Curtin, Fresno Falcons (64 gp, 21g, 61a, 82 pts, +6)
F - Alex Leavitt, Alaska Aces (69 gp, 24g, 63a, 87 pts, +27)
D - Ryan Gaucher, Alaska Aces (42 gp, 15g, 45a, 60 pts, +25)
D - Troy Milam, Gwinnett Gladiators (46 gp, 6g, 40a, 46 pts, +19)
G - Matt Underhill, Alaska Aces (48 gp, 34-10-3, 5 shutouts, 2.20, .919)

Selected to the ECHL All-Rookie Team in 2005, Gwinnett center Jeff Campbell is tied for fifth in the league with 50 assists and 80 points in 60 games. The 24-year-old is tied for second in the league with five shorthand goals and seven game-winning goals and he is tied for fourth with six shorthand points. He has also played seven games in the American Hockey League with Lowell where he has two points (1g-1a) in seven games.

Luke Curtin of Fresno is making his second appearance on the All-ECHL First Team, having been selected in 2004 with Atlantic City. Placed on injured reserve on Mar. 26 and not expected to return to the lineup until the Kelly Cup Playoffs, Curtin is the league leader with 37 power-play assists and 45 power-play points. He is second in the league with 61 assists, having been the leader or tied for the lead until Tuesday, and is fourth with 82 points in 64 games. Curtin was named the Most Valuable Player for the All-Star Game, voted as a starter for the second consecutive year and the third time while appearing in his fourth All-Star Game.

Selected to the ECHL All-Rookie Team on Tuesday, Alaska center Alex Leavitt leads the league with 63 assists and 87 points in 69 games. He is trying to become the first rookie in 15 years and only the third in league history to lead the ECHL in scoring. The 22-year-old leads ECHL rookies and is second overall with 33 power-play assists and 44 power-play points. He was voted to the All-Star Game and scored a goal to help the National Conference to a 7-6 win.

Ryan Gaucher of Alaska is making his second appearance on the All-ECHL First Team having been selected in 2003 with Cincinnati. He leads ECHL defensemen with 45 assists, 32 power-play points and 60 points in 42 games despite not playing for the Aces since Mar. 4. The 28-year-old was loaned to Providence of the American Hockey League on Mar. 10 and he has three points (1g-2a) in 12 games with the Bruins. He is tied for the league lead among defensemen with four game-winning goals and 27 power-play assists and is second in plus-minus rating with +25. He was voted to his third All-Star Game and for the second time as a starter.

In his third professional season, Troy Milam of Gwinnett is tied for second among league defensemen with 40 assists and is tied for fifth in scoring with 46 points in 46 games despite not playing for the Gladiators since Feb. 7. The 25-year-old is under contract to Chicago of the AHL and has played in two games for the Wolves. Milam was voted as a starter for the All-Star Game, making his second appearance having been chosen to play as a rookie in 2004.

Matt Underhill of Alaska is 34-10-3 and leads the league in wins and is tied for the league lead with five shutouts. The 26-year-old, who is under contract to Peoria of the AHL, is second in the league in goals-against average with 2.20 while he is tied for third with four overtime wins and is fifth with 2,859 minutes in 48 games.
