Curtin Named Alternate Captain for National Conference

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons, in conjunction with the ECHL, announced today that Falcons' left wing Luke Curtin has been named an alternate captain for the National Conference in next week's Rbk Hockey ECHL All-Star Game in Boise, Idaho.

Curtin is an alternate captain for the second year in a row after serving as the National Conference captain in 2005. Curtin is making his third consecutive start and his fourth start overall while playing in his fifth All-Star Game which is the second most in league history behind Chris Valicevic, who appeared in seven games. Curtin was named the Most Valuable Player at last year's All-Star Game in Fresno after scoring two goals in 20 seconds, the third-fastest two goals scored in an All-Star Game, in the first 45 seconds of the third period to give the National Conference a 5-2 lead on its way to a 7-6 win.

Curtin is one of three Falcons on the National Conference roster, joining defenseman Tom Walsh and goaltender Ryan MacDonald.

Fresno is home for a pair of games this weekend, hosting the Utah Grizzlies on both Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night, the first 2,000 fans in attendance receive a free Falcons hat courtesy of Heald College and KISS Country 93.7.
