Seven Players From 2003 ECHL All-Star Game Play In NHL

PRINCETON, N.J. - The 2003 ECHL All-Star Game was the second year that the ECHL asked its coaches to select players who coaches believed were prospects who possessed the necessary skills to move up to the American Hockey League and the National Hockey League.

Seven players from the 2003 ECHL All-Star Game have played in the NHL while countless others went on to play in the AHL.

Named to the All-Star Game and the All-Rookie Team in his first professional season, Zenon Konopka made his NHL debut with Anaheim on Oct. 30, 2005 and had seven points (4g-3a) in 23 games with the Ducks in 2005-06. He leads Portland in 2006-07 with 22 assists and 31 points in 35 games and was named the AHL Player of the Week on Nov. 13.

Named to the All-Star Game as a rookie, Mike Smith stopped 22 shots and recorded a shutout in his National Hockey League debut with Dallas on Oct. 21, 2006 and is 5-3-0 with two shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.36 and a save percentage of .899 with the Stars.

Named to his second consecutive All-Star game in 2003, Kevin Colley made his NHL debut with the New York Islanders on Oct. 27, 2006 and had 52 penalty minutes in 16 games before suffering a career-ending injury on Jan. 31, 2006.

Named to the All-Star Game and the All-Rookie Team, Mike Glumac made his NHL debut with St. Louis on Jan. 30, 2006 and has 13 points (7g-6a) in 36 games with the Blues. Selected to the All-Star Game as a rookie, Mike Bishai made his NHL debut with Edmonton on Jan. 29, 2004 and had two assists in 14 games for the Oilers in 2003-04.

Adam Hauser, who was also selected to the All-Star Game as a rookie, made his NHL debut with Los Angeles on Jan. 14, 2006 and Matt Underhill, who was also named as a rookie, made his NHL debut with Chicago on Mar. 7, 2004.
