Geisler Selected Alternate Captain For All-Star Game

STOCKTON, Calif. * The Stockton Thunder, an ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers, has announced in conjunction with the ECHL that defenseman Beau Geisler has been selected as an alternate captain for the National Conference team at the 2007 Rbk Hockey ECHL All-Star Game.

Geisler, 25, was named to the National Conference starting lineup on December 22 and is scheduled to make the first All-Star appearance of his career. The Coleraine, Minnesota native leads Thunder defensemen with 20 points (4g-16a) in 29 games, collecting a +4 rating.

The 6-foot, 185-pound defenseman's most productive stretch this season came between November 12 - 23, where he scored at least a point in five straight games and tallied seven points total (3g-4a).

Additionally, Luke Curtin of the Fresno Falcons was named an alternate captain and Darrell Hay of the Idaho Steelheads was named captain for the National Conference All-Star team.

Sponsored by Rbk Hockey and hosted by the Idaho Steelheads at Qwest Arena in Boise, Idaho, the 15th Annual ECHL All-Star Game will begin at 6:05 p.m. PT on Jan. 17 and the 10th Annual ECHL All-Star Skills Competition will begin at 6:05 p.m. PT on Jan. 16. The game can be heard live on AM 970 ESPN Radio, XM Radio, Canadian Satellite Radio and online through B2 Networks.

The telecast will air live on NHL Network in Canada and NHL Center Ice in the United States for the fifth consecutive year as well as being available free-of-charge through www.echl.com on B2 Networks.

The Thunder is scheduled to send seven members, including an ECHL-high four players to the All-Star Game. Geisler and center Nathan Martz were named to the National Conference starting lineup, while goaltender Devan Dubnyk and right wing Troy Bodie garnered All-Star selections in their professional rookie seasons.

Head coach Chris Cichocki will serve on the National Conference coaching staff, head athletic trainer Kevin Anderson was named to the training staff and broadcaster Mike Benton will serve on the broadcast's radio announcing team.

The Thunder drew 228,364 fans to Stockton Arena in its inaugural season, the ECHL's best attendance mark for 2005-06.
