GOEHRING SETS FRANCHISE MARK: The play of goaltender Karl Goehring is one of the reasons the Crunch has earned points in six of their last seven games (11 points, 5-1-1). On Saturday night, Goehring came within 3:14 of recording his third consecutive shutout, en route to his third victory of the season. He set a franchise record for consecutive shutout minutes, going 197:58 without allowing a goal, breaking J.F. Labbe's record of 192:40 set last season. Entering this week, Goehring leads all American Hockey League goaltenders with a 1.14 goals against average and a .960 save percentage. Goehring has appeared in a total of seven games for the Crunch this season with a 3-1-0 record. A native of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Goehring is the Crunch's all-time leader in goals against average (a minimum of 20 games played) with a career 2.20 mark. J.F. Labbe is second on the list with a career 2.46 goals against average. Columbus signed Goehring on May 7, 2001, following a heralded college career at North Dakota (WCHA) in which he lead his club to the National Championship in 1999-00.
FINDING A HOME?: Center Matt Dzieduszycki did not take long to make his impact felt this weekend, scoring the games only goal in the Crunch's 1-0 victory at Binghamton on Friday night and netting one of the Crunch's two goals on Sunday night in Bridgeport. Dzieduszycki has scored in both games for Syracuse this season immediately after being recalled from Dayton (November 6 and November 15). A native of Mississauga, Ontario, Dzieduszycki has appeared in nine career AHL games, recording three goals.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE ON THE ROAD: The Crunch's road special teams are at opposite ends of the statistical spectrum following this weekends play. Syracuse is first in the AHL in road penalty kill with a 97.1% success rate (34-for-35) and last in the league with a 3.6% power play (1-for-28).
JACKMAN FINDS NET: Rookie Tim Jackman had a break out game this past weekend, recording his first and second professional goals on Saturday night against the Philadelphia Phantoms. His second goal was the game winner, as the Crunch defeated the Phantoms 3-1. Jackman has appeared in 11 games for the Crunch this season, recording three points (2g, 1a) and four penalty minutes. Columbus drafted Jackman with their second choice, 38th overall, in the 2001 Entry Draft.
