Rivermen Fans Set Donation Record, Again

November 18, 2002 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Peoria Rivermen News Release

Regent Broadcasting (WGLO, 99X, The Party, RiverCountry) along with the Salvation Army and the Peoria Rivermen once again came through this past Friday night to warm the hearts of Central Illinoisians as the fans attending the hockey game donated over 1,000 coats. Friday's crowd of 5,987 came through once again as the largest single event contribution for the Salvation Army's Coats for Kids Program.

Major Charles McCarty of the Salvation Army said, "The success of this program seems to always come from the one Rivermen Game where Peoria's hockey fans bring in bags of coats. In less than an hour and a half we have collected over 75% of our totals. The Rivermen fans are most generous and I want to give them a heartfelt Thank You for another great year."
