Crunch Sign Goaltender Craig Kowalski, Darling Released

Syracuse, NY (December 15, 2007) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that they have signed goaltender Craig Kowalski to a professional try-out contract and released goaltender Curtis Darling.

Kowalski, 26, has appeared in 14 games with Gwinnett (ECHL) this season, going 11-3-1 with a 2.25 goals-against average and .926 save percentage. A native of Clinton Township, Michigan, Kowalski was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the eighth round, 235th overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

Darling, 24, appeared in one game with the Crunch this season in relief of Tomas Popperle on December 12 and stopped all four shots he faced. Darling was signed by the Crunch to a professional try-out contract on December 8, 2007.

The Crunch's next game is Saturday, December 15 against the Hamilton Bulldogs at the War Memorial at Oncenter.
